Jakub Voracek scored a goal in a losing cause yesterday as HC Lev Prague dropped a 4-2 decision to Barys Astana in KHL action. Voracek, who skated 16:56 of ice time and generated three shots on goal, briefly tied the game at 2-2 in the second period. He has two points (1G, 1A) in two games to date.

Ruslan Fedotenko and ex-Flyer Oskars Bartulis are in the starting lineup today for HC Donbass as the Ukrainian KHL team travels to the Moscow suburbs to take on Atlant, which features ex-Flyer Nikolay Zherdev. The game is underway as of this writing. Here is a webcast stream for the game. In addition, live text updates in English are available via the English version of the official KHL site.

Neither Ilya Bryzgalov nor Pavel Datsyuk were in the CSKA Moscow lineup yesterday. They are slated to be introduced at a press conference today and then will play their first game tomorrow against Avangard Omsk.

After sweeping a pair of games against Luleå J20 on Friday and Saturday, Flyers' prospect Fredric Larsson's Brynäs J20 team takes on Skellefteå J20 in SuperElit action today. A live streaming webcast is underway as of this writing.

Nick Cousins tallied a goal and an assist in a losing cause for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds last night. Cousins' goal temporarily tied the score at 2-2, but the team ultimately went to down to the Windsor Spitfires, 3-2. Cousins has three points (1G, 2A) through SSM's first two games. The club visits Sarnia on Friday.

Valeri Vasilev's MHK Spartak team defeated CSKA Moscow twice in MHL (Russian junior league) action. Spartak earned a 4-2 victory on Friday and then shut out the junior Red Army by a 2-0 score yesterday. The team plays Amur on Thursday and Friday. You can track Vasiliev's season and game-by-game stats here.

Enforcer prospect Derek Mathers earned an assist and stayed out of the penalty box last night as the Peterborough Petes defeated the Ottawa 67s by a 3-2 score. It was Mathers' first point in two games thhis season. The Petes travel to Erie on Thursday and then take on the Oshawa Generals (featuring Scott Laughton and Colin Suellentrop) on Friday.

Taylor Leier (abdominal muscle tear) will remain out of action for the WHL's Portland Winterhawks for another couple weeks. Last night, his team returned to the favor to the Seattle Thunderbirds after getting humiliated on road ice on opening night. The Winterhawks earned a 6-2 win over the Thunderbirds last night in Portland. Tonight, Leier's team takes on Tri-City.

Rather than constantly bemoaning the lockout -- and simply to have a fun little outlet in the interim -- HockeyBuzz is in the process of trying to organize a site-wide simulation season. The league would consist of the all-time teams for each of the 30 current NHL franchises. Our readers will pick the rosters, comprised of players from ANY era of the franchises' respective histories.

The process of putting this all together is just at the beginning stage. Personally speaking, the part that is the most fun is drafting the rosters and setting the line combinations. As for computer-simulated games and seasons, well, they are what they are.

With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to draft the Flyers all-time roster via a series of reader polls this week. I've decided to arrange it like this: The top four vote-getters at center, top five vote-getters at defense, top two vote-getters in goal and top seven vote- getters at wing will all automatically make the roster.

That will leave two open forward spots (12th forward and reserve) and two open defense spots (6th defenseman and reserve) for a separate vote. In determining the final two spots, I will open the voting up to consider enforcer and other role-player types as well as players who didn't finish among the top vote-getters in the initial set of polls. That will also add a bit of variety to the final roster choices beyond the no-brainer picks.

We'll start today with the defensemen. Choose as few as one or as many as five. It's up to you!
