Per nhlnumbers.com, Kaleta's new deal is for three years and $1.25 million per.
$3,825,000 total dollars over three seasons. Excellent signing for the Sabres.

This is great news!

The Sabres have announced that the club has locked up pesky forward and PK specialsit, Pat Kaleta for multiple years.

The Angola, NY native has been RFA since July 1.

Here's the team's release:

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced the team has signed forward Patrick Kaleta to a new, multi-year contract.

Kaleta (6’1”, 206 lbs., 6/8/86) led the team in 2011-12 with 116 PIM and led all forwards with 139 hits. Through 63 games played last season, Kaleta recorded 10 points (5+5).

A Buffalo native, Kaleta was drafted by the Sabres in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He made his first appearance with the team in the 2006-07 season and has since played in 267 games, tallying 50 points (26+24) and 434 PIM.

Darcy Regier has added a ton of grit and a few cans of whoop ass this Summer in acquiring Steve Ott from Dallas for Derek Roy, and by signing Big John Scott and Nick Tarnasky. Lets just see how big and bad Lucic, Chara, Thornton and the Bruins are now.

Kaleta will not have to fight heavyweights this season, like he did last season when he did took on Milan Lucic. Now, Patty can ease back into his role as blistering ball of hatred and pest extraordinaire. He'll fight middle weights when its necessary.

On locker clean out day, Kaleta told me that he was going to take a two week vacay to decompress from the disappointing 2011-12 season, then, he was going to dedicate himself to getting into better physical fitness. PK36 told me that he wants to continue to re-brand himself as one of the most difficult players in the NHL to play against.

The Kaleta signing leaves centre RFA, Tyler Ennis, as Buffalo's only unsigned player.

I'm told that the Ennis signing could be announced later this week.

How great is Will Ferrell?

Today, he and his comedy wingman, Zach Galifaniakis, rolled into Philly's National Constitutional Center to promote their new Summer flick, "The Campaign".

Watch as Matt Read, Sean Couturier, and Zac Rinaldo chuckle as Ferrell pumps the tires of his LA Kings.

Awkward much?

Ferrell pimp slaps the Flyers fans by pumping the tires of his beloved LA Kings! Precious moment!

I love how the boys totally high jack the cheesy interview.

On Monday, Will and Zach made a grand entrance into Toronto's Hockey Hall Of Fame to promote their new pile of comedy gold!
