Trade market: who would you add?

Now that August is almost upon us, the trade market, such as it is, is starting to heat up. Shane Doan has yet to sign but outside of him, there's not much on the open market.

Especially now that Rick Nash has been shipped off to the New York Rangers, that leaves a few names on the trade market that could change the balence of power in either conference.

Biggest among them is the Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan. He has scored 30 goals in a season four straight times, is only 25 years of age and about to enter the prime of his career. He allegedly wants out of Anaheim where he had a tumultuous 2011-12 season.

After Ryan, there are a pair of goaltenders who could be moved: Roberto Luongo and Jonathan Bernier.

Luongo is signed until 2022 which, even at an affordable $5.3 million, is a hefty contract to take one. However, Luongo has gotten 30 wins in each of his six seasons with Vancouver. The only reason he is being moved is because of stud backup Cory Schneider stealing the show.

On the other end of the spectrum there is Jonathan Bernier, the backup to Kings all-star goalie Jonathan Quick. Bernier is ready to try a starting role. He has all the tools and has played well as a backup. Bernier might be held by the Kings until the season when teams who have overestimated their goaltenders (oh Hi 2008 Avalanche) get desperate to find a solution.

As for defenseman, the only name that gets bandied about about, not much but enough to mention, is Keith Yandle. Given the uncertainty that constantly surrounds the Coyotes and the Coyotes immense defensive depth, they could move him for some assets if they felt they needed to which, if Doan does leave, they probably should.

The trade market isn't all the great right now but there are a few names out there that would help teams. Which player (does not have to be one of the ones mentioned above) would you add to your team, what would you give up and why would you add that player? What piece do they provide that your team is missing?

Jessica Redfield Scholarship fund

Started in honor of Jessica Ghawi, one of the victims in the Aurora tragedy, this is a scholarship whose goal is to help one aspiring sports journalist achieve their goal as a sports writer or broadcaster, just as she was going to do.

Feel free to visit the site to learn about the scholarship and about Ghawi. You don't have to match the $10,000 the Kings donated but if you feel like donating anything, please don't hesitate to.
