Q: How can the Flyers afford to sign two behemoth players in Shea Weber and Shane Doan?

A: They can't.

There's no question that Weber is Philly's "Plan A".

The Nashville Predators have until 11;30am on Wednesday to match the 14 year $110 million offer sheet that the Flyers through at Weber on this past Wednesday morning.

Apparently, Doan is Philly's "Plan B".

Doan made his first visit of free agency the NY Rangers and their training complex on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, Doan's agent, Terry Bross, conformed to csnphilly.com, that Doan was taking his second free agency meeting with the Flyers late Saturday afternoon and into the evening hours. Makes sense for the Flyers to dip their proverbial beak into the Doan fountain. What if Nashville matches the Flyers 14 year, $110 million offer sheet?

Six teams, including Buffalo and Pittsburgh, have made substantial contract offers to the 35 year old UFA Doan. The Flyers are not known to be one of the teams.

From a geographical standpoint, it makes sense for Doan to make the short jaunt from Manhattan to Philly. Buffalo isn't far from Philly.

I'm wondering if Doan will be visiting with the Sabres on Sunday......
