There hasn't been much news in the last 24 hours or so, but there has been some big news, especially today. The biggest of all, by a landslide, is Teemu Selanne announcing he will return to the Anaheim Ducks for another year. Here are some notes on Selanne was well as some notes on Mark Fayne, Peter Mueller and Wojtek Wolski.

- I'll start with Selanne, because he deserves to be on top. I can't tell you all how happy I am that he's returning for another season. I watch the Ducks quite regularly, and Selanne playing there is one of the big reasons why I do so. He can still play at an extremely high level and he's one of the classiest players to ever play the game, so this is a win for NHL fans, Ducks fans and everyone involved. Here's to Selanne having another great season and playing again next year!

- Mark Fayne's arbitration date has been set for August 2nd, my birthday, if necessary. I expect an extension between Fayne's camp and the New Jersey Devils to be worked out before the hearing, but knowing how Lou Lamoriello likes to do things, I've learned to expect the unexpected.

- Peter Mueller signed a one-year deal worth 1.75 million dollars with the Florida Panthers yesterday. At that price, I would have seriously considered bringing him in if I were in Lamoriello's shoes.

- Wojtek Wolski signed a one-year deal with the Washington Capitals worth 600 thousand dollars. He's an ace in shootouts, so he should earn his pay check with his production in that one aspect alone. Zach Parise was damn good in shootouts, so if not anything else, Wolski could have provided depth on the wing and helped replace the shootout production lost when Parise left. That said, the Devils obviously were not willing to take a shot at him so it doesn't matter now.
