The San Jose Sharks have come to terms with Brad Stuart on a three year 10.8 million deal as the third overall pick in the 1998 draft returns home.

Brad Stuart left San Jose as part of the Joe Thornton trade in 2005. He returns with a Stanley Cup ring, he led the Red Wings in hits last year with 177; he was second in blocked shots and was a plus – 16.

This type of player is exactly what the Sharks need. Stuart will help the penalty kill, his leadership shouldn’t be overlooked, and he has been a fairly durable rear guard throughout his career. He will be back home with his family so he should be comfortable mentally.

The Sharks officially announced today that head Coach Todd McLellan will return for a fifth season.
