I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day weekend. It seemed longer than usual, and for me, more expensive. But here we are now, Monday morning once again and the work week begins. This is a big week in the NHL. I didn't even realize that the Awards are on Wednesday. I was too busy worrying about the Suffolk County Softball dinner on Monday and the NHL Draft Party at the Coliseum on Friday. Everything inbetween is a blur.

These are the things that ran passed my brain.

1) Say NO to Nash, but Shea Weber might be nice.

2) If you can't get PK Subban, how about his brother in this year's draft? (Nice fit maybe??)

3) The Isles never draft the kid they play up on their website prior to the draft. They like to yell "SURPRISE" on draft night when the Coliseum is full. I will be wearing Kevlar this year because I have visions of Josh Bailey night in my head.

4) If Matt Moulson doesn't win the Lady Byng, I'll be really pissed.

5) Check Art Staple's draft preview from Newsday and notice he mentions Riley ".... if the Islanders move down." ahem... I'm just sayin'

6) Why did I plan my daughter's graduation party on Free Agent day? This may or may not suck. So many years nothing really happened. Because I won't be able to be glued to my computer, all hell will break loose for sure.

7) Please don't let there be a lock-out. Please don't let there be a lock-out. Please don't let there be a lock-out.

8) Newsday's poll regarding when the Islanders will next make the playoffs shows some promising optimism in the fan base as 52% (740 votes as of 7:30 am) are weighing in at next year. Garth would be pleased.

9) Decorated Canadian Journalist Roy MacGregor was on XM's Home Ice on Friday morning and was very interesting. He brought up the question of whether today's game is "over coached" and played more like a chess game than hockey. He suggests restricting the number of coaches. Very interesting idea. Having three coaches behind the bench and two calling orders from the ceiling does seem like overkill.

10) Mr. MacGregor also said that he is concerned social media has "all but destroyed sports journalism" with the need to be first to report the smallest of details. "The pendulum has swung so far, we no longer see stories." He called it the "John Tortorellaism of Hockey." Being consumed by minutia without comprehension of the game.

Interesting thoughts.
