As promised a month ago, I would be releasing my Final List for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft following the Combine. A few people question why the combine exists and if it really adds insight. Well it depends on how you (or scouts, general managers) feel about it entirely. Generally the combine is so that all the testing can be centralized and we can get accurate looks at height/weight, and other physical attributes.

Do the tests have any merit on lists? Absolutely. For example, I talked about Tom Wilson yesterday having a very good vertical jump. Wilson has been criticized for being an okay but not great skater, and someone who will have to continue to progress that part of his game to make the pros in a couple years. Seeing a good vertical jump can, and I stress can, point to explosiveness. This might give a team an idea that his skating is more of a mechanical thing and something fixable. While it may not change where he is on their list, it can erase some questions and make a team more inclined to put trust in him with their pick. Just a quick thought on that.

As for my list, I took some of the interviews I've done over the past month, as well as some looks at the Combine into play when moving a couple For the most part, however, this is based on 50+ live OHL games, and video viewings of the rest. Enjoy.

MOCK DRAFT CONTINUES TOMORROW.
