8:42 pm: And so it goes. Just as the Islanders season ended early, the Sound Tigers season ended all of three games more than a regular season. The CT Whale swept the Tigers in three games.

Game three was looking good for the Bridgeport team, but penalties undid their efforts. Especially an overtime penalty on Tony Romano for slashing which also earned him an abuse of officials misconduct and a game misconduct. The Whale scored on the power play and the Sound Tigers playoff hopes ended right then.

At least this game wasn't a shut out like the other two. The Tigers managed three goals, each of which was answered by the Whale with a goal of their own. DiBenedetto, Rhakshani and Ullstrom scored for Bridgeport in a hard fought game. Calvin deHaan had two assists in tonight's game and Brock Nelson didn't play. Cizikas managed five shots on net this time with no penalties.

But it wasn't enough. And once again, I didn't get a change to see them play in person. Another season down the tubes.

10 am: Considering the high note that the Bridgeport Sound Tigers ended their season on, the fact that they have been shut-out in their two 1st round playoff games is upsetting to say the least.

Did anyone expect two 3 - 0 shut-outs? No. But it seems that while the Tigers have managed shots on net (over 40 on both nights), the wall in net named Talbot has only let in six goals on 247 shots he has faced. Wow.

That is not to say that Kevin Poulin is a slouch on the other end, but the CT Whale has managed to get three by him in each game. It is frustrating to say the least. So much so that Casey Cizikas let it get to him and was tossed out of the game with a game misconduct last night. Even so, he will play today when the Whale and the Tigers meet for perhaps the last time this season at 5 pm. Cizikas has 20 PIMs in just two games.

Brock Nelson has zero PIMs and three shots on net for the two playoff games he has played. Casey has six and Calvin deHaan has five SOGs. None of which found the back of the webbing.

Rhett Rakhshani lost "a few chicklets" last night when a puck smashed into his face but supposedly he's "fine." Although I'm sure "fine" is a relative term.

Art Staple did mention that this is a mini Battle of NY fueling the Isles/Rangers rivalry. I would hate to see the Tigers swept in three, but after two hard fought games this week, I can't see how this afternoon's outcome will be any different.
