And In the End.... Isles Vs. Jets

To end the season, the NY Islanders will play two teams that are also not heading to the playoffs. However, while everyone will call them games that don't matter, I'm pretty sure they matter a lot to Matt Donovan who would love nothing better than to make a case for himself for next season.

The Islanders may not be heading to a post season, but Kevin Poulin and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers are. Let's hope they get out of the first round and deep into their playoffs. It will only be good for them.

While the World Championships are still setting rosters, we won't be sure if any NY Islanders will be participating or not. There are two schools of thinking on this. After a long season, do you want to risk injury for international competition? Or is it a good thing to push a player to prepare to see if they have it in them to keep going after an 82 game season?

I wouldn't expect Mark Streit to play for Switzerland as he's just about coming back to his normal self, but if Nino Niederreiter got the call, send the kid. But we'll have to see how this shakes out.

Brock Nelsen will be playing the final games of the Sound Tigers' season with Bridgeport. Maybe we should all try to catch the 4/15/12 game as they end their season.

But tomorrow, we end the Isles season at home. Art Staple is presenting a "good guy" award before the game. I can't imagine who that will be -- because we have too many of them.

And if anyone is going to ask me in comments what I feel about the whole Pat LaFontaine story -- I'll say I wish to crap I had written it because that writer for the WSJ who was covering the game for the Rangers is making quite a name for himself with it.

But I'm obviously really sucky at self promotion or doing things strictly to get my name out there. I'll say this -- there are usually three sides to every story. And in this case, I'm pretty sure everyone's at fault.
