He's a man of his word.

Cody Hodgson told me this morning that he felt like his first goal as a Sabre is not far away.

1-0 Sabres

Hodgson won a wall battle, carried the puck, lost it, recovered it, then scored on the wraparound. Excellent work by the former Brampton Battallion stud.

He's been doing all of the little things correctly. I think he's finally comfortable in Lindy's system. He's had three lengthy practice sessions to work with line mates. Kevyn Adams works closely with Cody and all the centres. Its beginning to show results.

Christian Ehrhoff recorded his 200th career assist on CoHo's goal.

2-0 Sabres

Sekera did a great job of walking the line to find a lane. He got his point shot through and the rest is history on the goal

#28 of season for the Captain. Great work down low by Roy and Leino

3-0 Sabres

Prettiest goal I've seen in a while.

Hodgson PPG from Vanek and Roy

6:58pm:

Mike Weber will sit this game out. Alex Sulzer is your sixth defenseman.

Someone had to sit with Tyler Myers returning from his three game suspension for plowing Scott Gomez.

Reggie Sekera is healthy and playing well.

Sulzer has a goal and 2 assists in his 8 games played since the Kassian trade.

"I'm happy to do whatever I can tyo help this team win games and earn points right now", Cody Hodgson told me this morning after the Buffalo skate. He told me that he is relieved that he was able to contribute two assists in the 7-3 Tampa victory.

"Anything I can do to contribute, and everyone in here is thinking the same way", CoHo told me.

Though he hasn't scored a goal yet for his new team, Hodgson feels like as long as he keeps pounding away at the fundamentals, his goals will come. Right now, he's content to chip in how and where he can.

"Faceoff wins, finishing checks, setting up my line mates. Whatever they need me to do, I'll do it".

Hodgson told me that he's looking forward to playing against PK Subban tonight.

The two lads grew up in the GTA and have been playing travel hockey against one another "forever it seems".

The two have been playing against one another since they aere 10 or 11 yesars old.

So I asked Cody if PK was as good then as he is now.

"H e was always really good. Always really strong. Same type of physical player then as he is now. Real fast, great shot . I played against him in the OHL too, and he's a force out there, just the physical presence that he brings is so impressive. Noyt a lot of guys have it, like PK has it, even at this level. Playing in minor anbd in junior hockey he was pretty intimidating. There were a lot of good players in 'The O" at that time... Tavares, Stamkos, PK."

So is it going to be a mutual admiration society on the ice tonight.

"No. We just have to keep him in check. When he's on the offensive side of the puck, he can jump into plays and you have to be aware of where he is and not give him to much time out there".

I asked Hodgson is there is a better chirper in hockey, to which he diplomatically replied:

"Don't know about that. All I talk to PK about is totally positive".
