Just a quick update...
The Sharks are trying to get the right pieces together for a deal for Rick Nash, although it is still unclear whether or not Nash is willing to go to San Jose. The Sharks are not on "The List" but there have been more than a few teams who have talked to Columbus despite being stuck on the other side of the velvet rope.
According to 2 sources, the key player in any Nash deal with San Jose looks to be Joe Pavelski. Pavelski is what I am told is making the Shark's talk interesting because if he actually is being considered he would arguably be the best player Howson has been able to get put into a deal.
The big question, however, would still be does San Jose have the prospects needed to make this happen? If not, would Columbus deviate from their stance of the exact pieces they want?
And then there are some who believe Howson is simply doing research for the summer when he talks to teams off of Nash's list. Either way, as of now Nash looks like a Kings vs. Sharks race.
On Carter to LA
There are some people out there right now who are of the mindset that this deal may be closer than any other to completion...
On Hemsky...
The Oilers have not been able to get anywhere near the value they are expecting out of Hemsky and are now seriously considering re-signing him, with headway being made in that regard. The issue here has been the same for months, however. Hemsky has wanted a longer term deal than the Oilers are willing to give, as well as Hemsky would have to take a pay cut to stay in Edmonton.
I have heard and confirmed the Predators, once the favorite for Hemsky, are now turning their focus elsewhere. I hear Brassard and possibly Carter being the new target.
On Bernier....
One source told me in the hour that Bernier will be dealt by the deadline and now it is just a matter as to where.
