Jagr: I'm Staying Here

He's been dodging the question all season but on Thursday long after the morning skate had ended, Jaromir Jagr finally said he wants to re-sign with the Flyers.

One year. He'll take less money. Money doesn't matter. It's about happiness and right now, he says, he can't remember being this content with an NHL club.

That says volumes because Flyer fans are worried Jagr might just walk after this season ... to Detroit.

Won't happen.

“I like this team too much. I don’t want to go anywhere.”

He said if it were about money, he would have stayed in Russia.

His agent, former Flyers defenseman Petr Svoboda, told me he has not had any concrete talks with GM Paul Holmgren about re-signing since Jagr doesn't want this to be a distraction. Holmgren said they have talked a few times already about a contract.

Svoboda represents Jakub Voracek, as well.

Jagr said today there's been no formal talks, as well. Both Holmgren and Svoboda seem to agree that yesterday's meeting was about how both players are working out in Philadelphia.

“There is nothing going on right now,” Svoboda told me. “I am just here to see the boys.”

Here's my story from this morning on CSNPhilly.com with Jagr's comments:
