On JVR and Pronger

You've already seen Eklund's post on James van Riemsdyk.

Three Flyers said today at the morning skate that the hit from Bobby Butler in the FIRST Ottawa game represents the initial head shot on JVR.

There were subsequent hits in the games that followed, but this is likely the root cause.

The other news ... Chris Pronger, who has not spoken in nearly one month, issued a statement today that, to me, sums up his anxiety:

“It is very, very tough right now,” Pronger said. “I don't feel well and it hurts so much not to be playing.”

Pronger has had little contact with the team since going into seclusion in December and even less since Dec. 15 when the club announced he would not play again this season.

Does this make the Flyers all that more determined to land a high-priced No. 1 d-man at the trade deadline and worry about cap consequences next season?
