Awkward: Cammalleri traded mid-game, B's sink Habs 2-1

Don't doubt for a second that tonight's game between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens was a complete snoozer through the first 40 minutes.

As a bizarre bounce off the TD Garden glass gave Jordan Caron and the B's a goal just 83 seconds into the game, the second goal from the Boston 13th skater (if you wanna call him that), Caron's tally would account for the only offense through the opening two periods of a listless game between these seemingly bitter rivals.

But then the news of the night came. Michael Cammalleri, fresh off calling the current Habs squad a team that prepares for their games 'like losers', was not on the Montreal bench. Nor was he in the Montreal locker room. Cammalleri, the subject of harsh criticism with just nine goals in 37 games this year, was sent to the team hotel, and told to "await further instructions."

Hey, if that doesn't sound like something out of a Vin Diesel movie, then I don't know what does.

"We had absolutely no news," Tomas Plekanec said after the loss. "Some guys thought he got hurt or something. We had no news."

Traded to Calgary for Rene Bourque, prospect Patrick Holland, and a second round pick, the Habs felt a change of scenery was best in a loss that saw them downed by Tim Thomas' 31 saves.

Yet, this wasn't your typical Boston-Montreal game. The hatred wasn't there, nor was the intensity. It was as if the teams were skating in mud. But hey, with the Bruins seizing their 25th win out of their last 30 games, they'll have to take 'em any way they can.

More info comin' later.
