Momentum saves.

That's what CSN hockey analyst Bill Clement was talking about last night with regards to Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

That's what Bill Meltzer was talking about in his blog today.

What troubles me about Bryz is that I feel he's only actually stolen a game for the Flyers this season and while you can excuse bad bounces and fluky goals, at some point, you need your goalie to give you a save and stop the bleeding.

And for me, the guy who has done that more than Bryz is far fewer games for the Flyers has been Sergei Bobrovsky. He's had those momentum saves.

I talked to a player recently who said what Bryz needs to do is FOCUS on just stopping the puck and blot out everything else. And I wonder ... if his focus is off here because he has such a good team in front of him he doesn't have to bear down.

I asked GM Paul Holmgren about that today and he didn't quite answer the question after pausing for a few seconds to think about it.

But Holmgren flat out said that Bryz has to get better and it has to start now. Bryz is going to spend a few days with goalie coach Jeff Reese.

BOB will go against the Penguins. So, if Bob stops the bleeding and gives the Flyers a big win against Pittsburgh, does BOB go against the Rangers for the Winter Classic or do you go back to Bryz?

What do the fans say?

Here's Holmgren's thoughts and more on the goalie problem ...
