9:38 pm: And the Flyers over the Isles winning streak continues as Danny Briere wins the game in overtime . All the good work the Isles did was suddenly erased. The one point the Isles earned means nothing because the Flyers should have never been able to get the score even.

"Heartbreaking loss for the Islanders. They played so doggone well. and that's what they have to continue to do." I can't imagine they'll know how to do that.

PA Parenteau sat on the bench with his head staring at the floor. That's how everyone felt. They let it get away again.

Jack Capuano searches for ways to stay positive. He liked Frans Nielsen's line and how they played. Even though they were up 3 - 1, they played hard.

He mentioned luck. Okay, that's one element of the win. No, the team is not happy. The Isles play the Devils in back to back games. This isn't getting easier.

When asked what he tells the team after a tough loss, "To stay together. It's a mental game. Focus on the process.... Hopefully we can build off this."

Rick didn't have as much to say. Unless he was talking about the hard work of Kyle Okposo.

While it was beneficial to Kyle and Grabner and their score sheet, it's not what anyone wanted. They'll have to do better.

Have some Turkey and get back to work.

Night all.
9:22 pm: With 5;26 remaining in the third, Brierre gives the Flyers their second flukey goal of the game. The Islanders have never been able to hold onto a lead through the third. What a shame.

9:01: Had to get the dogs cleaned up so missed a good chunk of the 2nd. Bobrovsky replaced Bryzgalov and I see Jagr is hurt and will not return. The Isles had to kill a penalty to begin the third period and they did. But then Staios was called for something and he dragged a Flyer down.

so the Islanders are trying desperately to hold on to their one goal lead in the third.

8:18 pm: Scott Hartnell gets a gratiuitus bounce over Rick DiPietro's right shoulder. He isn't even sure it's in, but then RDP realizes it's behind him and gives a look of disgust.

Well, we knew this game was not going to be pretty.

7:48 pm: Michael Grabner seemed to appear out of nowhere and score on Bryz. Kyle Okposo now has three points in the period and the Isles have given the fans free Wendy's Chili.

It was all too much for the refs to take, so they decided to give PA Parenteau a penalty for head checking on Max Talbot on what (by all estimations) seems to be a very clean hit. No one likes the call except Peter Laviolette and the refs (and perhaps Tim Panaccio).

The Flyers will start the third on the power play and the Islanders have to find a way to maintain this momentum and not lose it during the next 40 minutes. The Flyers will indeed come out flying, so that won't be an easy task.

7:28 pm: And this is why coaches sit their star players. It gives them the impetus to score. Kyle Okposo scored not only the Isles two goals of the game, but his first two goals of this season.

Rick DiPietro let up a goal at 18 seconds into the first, but Kyle was there to even it up on the only shot the Isles managed to get to the net.

This is going to be an interesting game for a few reasons. One of which is that reporter Tim Panaccio is not having a good time of it in the press box. I'm sorry I am not there to help make his experience a little more pleasurable. Instead, I'm home, tweeting back at him.

11 am: Thanks to fellow HockeyBuzz.com correspondent Bill Meltzer, you can read an excellent game day preview of the Flyers here.

Jagr will be back. That means he and his big butt will be parked in front of Rick DiPietro who will be getting the nod in net tonight.

it is reported that Rolston will be out due to illness and Reasoner and Niederreiter will be the healthy scratches. Who will be in is Michael Haley. And according to Jack Capuano in his morning media meeting said "We've got to find the will. That's the bottom line."

Yep.

While the Islanders have had pitiful luck against the Flyers winning only one of 22 games, the Flyers are NOT unbeatable. But the question will be -- as it always is -- who wants it more?

Speaking of "wanting," the Islanders annual food drive to benefit Island Harvest begins tonight. Bring in two (or more) cans of food for collection and receive a ticket voucher for a future game.

The food is the most important thing. The food banks cannot keep up to the demand on Long Island. When people are struggling to keep a roof over their heads, it is the food budget that gets cut. There are people on Long Island who used to be able to make a good living. So many of them (in every neighborhood) are struggling. $3 - $5 worth of canned or dry goods will help Island Harvest out and it's something you can feel good about when you sit down to your Thanksgiving feast on Thursday.

Game On! Let's Go Islanders! And please be kind when you see the new third jersey make its debut. It really doesn't look bad when paired with the rest of the ensemble.

More Later.
