Another new series I thought I'd add to the table for the avid readers: "Get to Know" the upcoming 2012 NHL Draft Prospects. Not only will I talk a little bit about their hockey career, but I'll include a few quick questions with them that are serious with some fun ones as well - asking about pre-game meals or favorite hockey moments, that sort of thing. Hope you enjoy it.

Taken 4th overall in the OHL Priority Draft of 2010, Maidens has been under the microscope in Owen Sound for a while. But he was the toast of the town when it was he who scored Game 7's Overtime goal to win the OHL Championship a few short months ago.

Maidens has seen his share of time in a Canadian uniform at the Ivan Hlinka tournament where he won medal with the squad.

He's been compared to a various number of players from Derek Brassard to Evgeni Malkin. He's a guy at 6'1 who uses his size very effectively and brings some offensive ability to the table with a tremendous shot.

If you had to give a scouting report on yourself, what would you say?

“The game I play is like a power forward. I try to win battles and get in the corners – the dirty areas. I like to good and responsible down low, and let everything work from there.”

You've been paired with Daniel Catenacci ever since the trade. Any thoughts on playing with the Sabres prospect?

“He's a great player. He sees the ice well and is a good skater, so just being out there with him is just a pleasure.”

Do you prefer center or the wing?

“Wherever coach wants me to play, I'm comfortable doing it. And doing it well.”

Favorite Pre-Game Meal?

“Probably Fettuccine Alfredo with a little chicken.”

What do you listen to in the dressing room before a game to get you pumped?

“Not any certain songs. Anything with a good beat; some techno or a remix or something.”

It's obviously your draft year. Do you feel any pressure at all when you step onto the ice this season?

“A lot of pressure. Guys say the biggest thing is to have fun and treat it like any other year. It's definitely an important year, you're under the microscope. But you gotta go out there and perform.”
