Something is happening today in Edmonton. Could be a bunch of roster moves or could be a trade. Still waiting to see what unfolds.

What we know right now is:

- Sam Gagner has been activated and should play tonight. There is no word as to which line he'll play on.

- Jeff Petry has been sent down to the Oilers AHL farm team, the Oklahoma City Barons.

- RW Ryan Keller has been recalled from OKC. This last bit of info is where the intrigue comes in.

With Gagner activated, and provided no one else is sick or injured, the Oilers are back to having 13 playable forwards. Add Keller, and the Oilers are at 14, plus Hemsky and Hordichuk on the IR. They also have seven active defensemen and two goalies with the big team.

The simplest outcome from the additions of Gagner and Keller will be Anton Lander being sent to OKC. Gagner will move into the 2nd line center role, bumping Horcoff and Belanger each down a spot on the depth chart. This still does explain Keller though. Is he here just to be the 13th guy?

Or perhaps, he's here to replace a forward that will be moved at some point today in a trade? Could the Oilers have finally found a way to add a legit Top 4 defenseman? I am hearing a couple teams are in panic mode to find a potential Top 6 winger. Could Linus Omark plus another asset or a draft pick be shifted for a defenseman? TO, Columbus, Ottawa and Winnipeg are all rumored to be shopping right now.

Stay tuned folks.
