Here and There With Flyers

OTTAWA _ So what's the bigger news concerning the Flyers today?

That Sergei Bobrovsky will make his first start of the season in Ottawa?

That Matt Walker will replace Andreas Lilja?

That Harry Zolnierczyk was called up in case Andreas Nodl can't play.

Why Harry over Brayden Schenn? Because the Flyers didn't have enough cap space, that's why.

Or is it news from The Fourth Period that Eric Lindros plans on playing in the Winter Classic?
I sent Big E a couple messages last month and never heard back from him, but The Hockey Guys sat down with him recently.

Each of these items carries its own weight. Some for the present; some for the past.

One thing I want to mention is Jaromir Jagr, who comes into tonight's game without a goal this season.

I was surprised to hear Jagr tell us this week that his problem is two=fold. One, that he still doesn't the innate chemistry with Claude Giroux and James van Riemsdyk that he feels he needs to know where they are on the ice.

Well, that's a surprise to me because he seems to have very good chemistry with them. The other thing Jagr said was that he has been wasting too much energy in neutral ice and because of such, is winded when the Flyers get to cycling the puck in the offensive end.

The betting line among reporters here in Ottawa today is that Jagr will score his first goal of the season tonight against a younger Sens club that still carries a lot of older players and could be in for a long season.

“I expect them to come out firing,” Danny Briere told me. “You start the season, 0-4-1 or whatever, you don’t wan to fall in the hole, too quick. I would think they will be fired up, especially, on home ice.

“This will be a tough battle for us. People look at the records and think that it should be an easy game for the Flyers, but far from it. It could be our toughest game so far.”

Here's a gaggle of Flyers news 'n notes from today on CSNPhilly.com, including comments from Jagr about himself thus far:
