Primes vs. Richie and Danny

If you've been following our All-Time Flyer series on CSNPhilly.com, you're aware we hit the 2000s last week.

The competition was keenest between Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen as the fan favorite for this era on the blue line.

What I thought was most telling was the competition at center among Keith Primeau, Mike Richards and Danny Briere.

Two years ago, had we ran this series with the same people involved, there's no doubt in my mind that Mike Richards would have surpassed anyone he faced from this present era as the fans' No. 1 choice at center.

What surprised me last week wasn't that Richards outright lost by a huge margin to Primeau as much as Briere beat him out as No. 2.

That tells me that Richards fell in the eyes of the fans and I think his trade to Los Angeles might have swayed some voters who were on the fence as to what his relative worth or in most cases, his relative popularity, was during this era when stacked up against others.
