I have a source who tells me that there is a reason why Chicago Blackhawks scouts have been a fixture in the Buffalo pressbox of late.
Rumour has it that the Hawks would be willing to trade Brent Seabrook to Buffalo for Al Kotalik. Straight up. The Sabres have young prospects, like Mike Ryan in Rochester, to sweeten the deal if need be.
This move would address a serious need for both teams.
The Sabres would get the ass kicker that they covet for their ailing bluelne. Seabrook is 6'3 and 216. He's 21 and he's a future star. Drew Stafford could fill the hole upfront. This would open the door to promote Dan Paille to Buffalo for keeps.
The Hawks would pair Kotalik with Havlat and watch the points pile up.
Is this just smoke, or, is there fire?
More on this later.
