The Predators have followed the Devils lead and are taking Shea Weber to arbitration. How I feel this situation could be slightly different is where I see the arbitration in NJ as giving the Devils more time to find a solid trade, the arbitration in Nashville I believe is to buy more time to get a long term deal done..

The difference...

The Preds are sure Shea Weber wants to remain in Nashville. The Devils believe Parise may want to stay..

The similarity...

Both teams were afraid of Detroit, Dallas, NJ, Buffalo or Winnipeg offer-sheeting their players...and they are probably extremely right to be worried.

Bryzgalov's tweet...

Ilya Bryzgalov on his "validated" Twitter account tweeted last night in Russian "wait for the news- soon, soon."

I am not hearing anything is imminent (the Flyers aren't talking at all) but for the sake of argument let's define "soon" as the next 48-72 hours. If we do indeed get news "soon" of Bryzgalov's signing it will definitely be a tell as to how the Flyers are going to play the cap game.

If the Flyers are trying to pull of a major trade they will definitely have it done by the time the Bryzgalov contract is announced. And by major I mean Jeff Carter major. If the Flyers do announce they have Bryzgalov under contract then we can assume the Flyers are not going to move Carter (which is where i am leaning now) and instead are going to make a several minor moves, buyouts, or bury some salary in Adirondack.

Roloson and the Caps?

Apparently another goalie the Caps may look at is Dwayne Roloson. This one makes a ton of sense. If your team dominates the regular season and can't win in the playoffs, why not go and get one of the winningest playoff goalies out there. The Caps with Rollie would be frightening.
