Forsberg Ducks the Media

Total meltdown night after a 5-2 loss ...

Peter Forsberg gets tossed for reacting to not get a penalty by Nolan Pratt and he was right about that.

But Foppa left the arena without meeting the press. The last captain to do that was Eric Lindros in the '97 Stanley Cup finals.

That's a violation of the NHL media policy. We mention that because the Flyers were fined $10,000 this week for violations of the league's media polciy. This could result in another fine.

Two Flyers were injured tonight. Jeff Carter has a swollen left ankle but x-rays were negative. Randy Robitaille had a bad left ankle but we don't know the full extent.

The Flyers refused to give us medical infomation, handing out a release that said "lower body injury" on Carter and nothing on Robitaille. This is the new injury policy under interim GM Paul Holmgren.

Coach John Stevens was deliberately vague after the game. Carter broke the policy himself by telling the media exactly what waqs wrong with him.

This makes the Flyers, who are in total free fall. It harms their image at a time when they need to build some good will with people and not destroy what's left of it.

Forsberg's actions are, in his own words, "brutal" for a team captain. He has to face the media.

This can get out of hand very quickly. This is an indication of just how bad things are within the Flyers themselves right now.

It's out of control.

And it comes on a night when the coach and some of the players talk about no one wanting to "compete."

This team is is deep trouble.
