Why Versteeg Changed Jersey Numbers

Why does Kris Versteeg want to wear No. 10?

He wore #32 in Chicago. And in Toronto.

The Flyers had #32 jerseys waiting for him ... but he asked them to change it.

"Do you guys want me to wear 32," Versteeg replied when I asked him about the number switch today.

We told him that the Flyers had not given that number out to a regular every-day player since John LeClair. David Laliberte had it but only on a call-up basis.

“I liked a lot of guys,” who wore it, Versteeg explained. “Pavel Bure, mainly. It’s been my number throughout my whole childhood. Even coming into Chicago, it was given me,

“No.32 going into Toronto, too. Ten was already set in stone with George Armstrong. It’s a new, fresh little start. I might as well start off with something new I felt.”

Peter Laviolette would not say where Versteeg plays tonight but the betting line seems to be on Mike Richards' line with James van Riemsdyk. Lavy did say, that he may want to use these 4 games to move Versteeg around and see where it fits best.

Don't worry. I know what you're thinking. Lavy has already assured he won't be messing with the Briere line. That stays intact with Scott Hartnell, danny Briere and Ville Leino.
