I was not in attendance at Day 2 of the Flyers' rookie camp. The attendees reportedly worked primarily on defensive positioning and breakouts yesterday.

The Flyers' annual prospects game against players in the Washington Capitals system will take place tomorrow at 3 PM. You can link to the webcast of the game here.

It is unlikely that there will be any one player on either side who simply takes over the game the way that James Van Riemsdyk did last season. One of the more interesting subplots to the game will be seeing how Sergei Bobrovsky performs in game action and how well a pair of well-regarded Russian prospects for the Caps, Stanislav Galiev and Dmitry Kughryshev, perform. The Caps have been experimenting with using Galiev, a natural winger whom they drafted from the QMJHL's St. John Sea Dogs in the 3rd round of this year's draft, at center this week.

Overseas prospect notes:

* Oft-injured defense prospect Simon Bertilsson will miss at least the first two weeks of the Elitserien regular season with what has been deemed sprained knee ligaments. Last year, he missed the World Junior Championships due a similar injury in his other knee and also missed time with a shoulder injury and a concussion. The 19-year-old had a strong pre-WJC summer tourney performance at Lake Placid for Team Sweden last month and played well in the Swedish preseason before sustaining the injury in the final game of the preseason.

* As of this morning Skellefteå AIK head coach Anders Forsberg was still non-commital as to whether he planned to start 35-year-old incumbent starter Andreas Hadelöv or 20-year-old Flyers prospect Joacim Eriksson in goal when the team plays its regular season opener tomorrow against Färjestad.

* Russian forward prospect Andrei Popov scored his first goal of the KHL season today. As of this writing, Popov's Traktor Chelyabinsk team trails Metallurg Magnitogorsk 2-1 midway through regulation. Popov continues to play on Traktor's second line.
