** 7:29 pm: And in other news that I forgot, it was reported early this morning that James Wisniewski (I'm practicing writing it. Did I get it right?) will be wearing the #20. If that doesn't send a big FU to Bergenheim, I don't know what does. They did that too him when he shipped out to Russia and Richard Park took his #10. Now, I suppose the statement is being made they have cut the ties that bind. Well, glad I didn't buy a 14k gold #20. I should just have one customer made that says "7th"

**4:18 pm: It was just brought to my attention that sometimes there are questions in the comment section. I'm sorry I don't get a chance to read them very often. Sadly, unlike some others, I'm not a full-time hockey blogger. So, if you DO have a question, please feel free to DM me. I respond to those.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw this come over my email at work:

UNIONDALE, NY, August 3, 2010 – The New York Islanders have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract with Jon Sim.

The native of New Glasgow, NS, Sim, recorded 22 points (13 goals, nine assists) in 77 games last season, his third with the Islanders.

During the 2008-09 season, the 32-year-old winger split the season between the Islanders and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In 49 games with the Islanders, Sim recorded nine goals and six assists for 15 points. With the Sound Tigers, Sim averaged over a point per game with 23 (13 goals, 10 assists) in 18 games. The New Glasgow, NS, native will enter his thirteenth professional season in 2010-11.

“Jon brings an unmatched work ethic and veteran leadership to our lineup and we’re excited to have him back for the upcoming season,” Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said.

Anyone else see this coming? Anyone?

Well, I for one am surprised. But if you remember, I also wrote quite a few times about his work ethic as well. He never complained when he was in Bridgeport and does anything he is asked to do. He also likes to annoy Sean Avery. That in itself is a bonus.

Bruno Gervais is new to Twitter and can be found at @bruno_gervais8. He too found the Jon Sim signing from Twitter and is pleased to have him back. He also tweeted out the following:
"Yes, there's a lot of traffic at the blue line in LI. but inside competition is always good for a team, it brings out the best in everyone!"

However the traffic on the LIE brings out the worst... for sure!
