The End for The Wrecker?

Sad but not surprising, the NY Islanders have placed young tough guy Joel Rechlicz on waivers today.

Joel played only six games with the Islanders last season and was a -2 with 27 penalty minutes. He spent most of the time in Bridgeport, but not on the ice.

A great guy in the locker room but limited on ice ability meant limited ice time and a limited role with any Islanders affiliate, including the Utah Grizzlies. In 2008-2009 he played 45 games in Utah and was a -17 with 110 PIMs.

Joel has a heart of gold and was great with the fans. Hopefully, he will find a home where he can be useful.
