Well, the NHL Schedule was released on Tuesday and the NHL Awards were tonight. All I can say is I'm glad that Jay Mohr didn't use that stupid Doug Weight joke he was trying out on Twitter for a few days. I just wish there were a few other jokes he didn't use. But that's another topic.

Here's a few things I noticed about this year's schedule. The first thing is it isn't very conducive to getting away for a weekend and seeing an away game on a Saturday. Nope. But there are thirteen Saturday Home games.

There are only four home games in October, five in November, a whopping 10 in December, seven each in January and February, eight in March and two in April. The season will end on Saturday April 9th in Philly, so there may be my Saturday away game. Unless of course the next day is Easter Sunday.

There are 20 back to back games with five in March alone. The good thing is six of them are NY back to backs with limited travel. The longest road trip is in January that actually starts with a New Year's EVE game in Detroit. The five game road trip goes from Detroit to Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado and Chicago and ends on January 9th. This is followed by the longest HOME game stretch from 1/11 - 1/20 for five home games. But at the end of January, the Isles get a full five days without a game to recover. Otherwise there is only two to three days between games.

There are nine day games this season, most of which are on holidays. Now, we know the fans of the Montreal Canadians like to travel, so prepare for buses on Friday, October 29th and Sunday, December 26th.

The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks will not be playing at the Coliseum this coming season but the runners up will be there three times. The Phoenix Coyotes will be here on Saturday, December 18th. Maybe by then, they'll have an actual owner.

Well, just two more days before the NHL Draft. I hope everyone is getting excited. I know I am. I hope if you are local, you'll be at the Coliseum on Friday night enjoying the fun and biting your nails with the rest of the Islanders fans. No one knows what's going to happen!
And a look at the Isles Jerseys Old and really new? Take a look.
