The Flyers announced this morning that both Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne have right foot injuries and will miss Game 5 in New Jersey on Thursday ...

- more later -

Why is the Flyers can't ever seem to get through a playoff year without significant injuries?

First Jeff Carter suffers a fracture in his left foot that hampers him down the stretch and into the first 3 Games of this playoff series with the Devils and now Simon Gagne, who was soooo close to breaking out of his scoring slump, blocks a couple shots and has a broken right toe.

Gagne will have his foot further examined tomorrow. Remember the Pittsburgh Eastern Conference Finals a few years ago with Kimmo Timonen and his blod clot?

How about the Flyers losing most of their defensive corps against Tampa Bay in the 2004 Eastern Conference Finals?

I know injuries are part of the playoffs but it seems the Flyers are soooo unlucky when it comes to blocking shots - see Eric Desjardins and Marcus Ragnarsson ...

I took the Flyers in 7 games. I think the Devils win Game 6 in Jersey and the series ends on Sunday in Philly.

Now here is the rub. The NHL doesn't have any series starting until the following THUR and FRI . That means if the Flyers clinch this weekend, they could be sitting around a week and we all know that the Flyers are NOT one of those teams who respond well to sitting around.

Recall the Olympic break? You get the idea.
