And here we go! THe Olympics are over, it's time to get back to work and the day Brian Burke calls the Day the NHL loses their minds: Trade Deadline.

While we may not see the type of huge moves all over the league that we used to see years ago, it's still an exciting part of the game.

I am not one to speculate or ponder what would be best for the team. But there are just a few things as a fan, and as someone who has been around them, that I'd like to see.

1) I'm wishing that somehow, some way Marty Biron makes his way back home to Buffalo to be with his family. That is more of a person wish than a professional one, but it would be magical if it would happen. The sad part is I think it would take the kind of magic that only Brian Burke is capable of.

2) I'd like Jeff Tambellini to find a home on someone's roster where he could actually -- you know -- PLAY. As one fan commented to me yesterday, "Jeff still has wheels." Yes, he does. But for the NY Islanders, he's a spare part only used under exceptional conditions. He's like a bandaid. So necessary but kept in a box until needed. My wish is that they can ship him to his father. It seems the only time he plays with passion and purpose is when Dad is in the building.

3) Defense: I'm loving Matt Martin, but he's a kid. Bruno Gervais has been one of my favorite interviews for years. But maybe it's time for him to go the route of Chris Campoli and find a new home. Just a thought.

4) Andy Sutton is being talked about left and right. I'd hate to lose that size on our bench, but if something better is available for him, I'd understand. At Sutton's imposing size, he could play with a far harder edge. He doesn't. Also, I'm guessing that we can count on Radek Martinek for maybe 15 games next season before he breaks something else and is down for the count, so it would be nice to have someone less injury prone.

That's my short list. Speaking of short lists, I am STILL looking for a new number for my necklace. I won't make the investment unless there's at least a 3 year deal on the table. I'd be happy to invest in a #26 or #13.

The Islanders practice today at 10:30 am. Not quite sure if Scott Gordon will make it. Sadly, I won't. Time for me to get back to work too since Friday was a "Snow Day." If the Islanders make today a "Snow Day" with trades or contract changes, hopefully someone will let me know!
