**Not worth a new post: Nate Thompson rushes out of the Coliseum to catch a flight as he was claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay. bye Nate at least it's warm.

Could the points race be any tighter? I don't think so.

Tonight the Islanders face the Panthers and try to keep them from getting the two points that would give them the same number of points the Islanders currently have: 52.

Check the stats, they are almost identical all the way down the line. So what does that mean? I'm thinking it means it's going to come down to a show down in net. I'm guessing (and it's only a guess) we'll see a well rested and ready to battle Rick DiPietro against a pretty tired Vokoun. But tired is a relative term and we've seen this guy can steal games.

Now, while the Panthers have taken the last two games from the Isles this season, they are now playing with a different intensity level and the Panthers have been on an extended road trip with a shut out loss last night to the NJ Devils. They may come into our building a little pissy about it and looking for redemtion.

With Andy Sutton sitting for two games, rumor has it that Dustin Kohn will be making the cross sound trip from Bridgeport. Kohn, fresh off his appearance in the AHL All Star game, will be happy to make an appearance on the Coliseum ice.

On the other hand, Nate Thompson will be waiting for noon today to see where the heck he will be playing next. Does he sit by the phone with his bags packed? How do you do that? Do you sleep in? Tough spot for a good guy.

Speaking of Good Guys, Jiggs McDonald will be calling tonight's game.. FOR FLORIDA!!! According to Dominik at Lighthouse Hockey, Jiggs will be making the call for the Florida radio station tonight. I hope that means he'll be sitting upstairs in the press box at the ledge to my right where the visiting radio announcers have been lately.

At least he knows how to pronounce everyone's name now.
