Schremp: What you don't know, Can't make you Happy |

The media has been all over Rob Schremp like white on Rice. He has been on talk shows, radio call ins and had multiple rounds of reporters ask him questions one on one. He's been newsworthy since he finally started to produce. Okay, meaning since he's finally been put in the line up.
I waited for the new kid in the locker room to have his time with Robbie today. And I mean kid in a literal sense. But he was there with two pages of questions, his media pass and his recorder; just as professional as every one else allowed in the locker room.
Rob sat with him and went over each question while ITV filmed. Rob even gave him the curtesy of removing the tobacco from his mouth while he answered. "I don't do this for everyone you know." No Rob... you don't. And I've been meaning to talk to you about that. It's pretty gross.
When the camera lights went off and Schremp was once again alone, the wad of black guck went right back in his mouth. I walked over to talk.
"So how does it feel to know that you're sticking?" I asked him with a chuckle. He gave me a wet, black smile. "It's good. But you never know. I could still always be sent down so there's always that. Hopefully, I want to be here for the year. So I kinda just take it a day at a time."
I told him that he was getting some very positive press from both Mr. Snow and Mr. Gordon. He told me that was good to hear. What? Rob Schremp doesn't read the trades? Wait... NOT EVEN MY ARTICLES???? COME ON!!!
"I try not to. I don't. you never know what's going to be in there. I've known that since previous years reading that. My first couple of years in training camp, I was always like that. In Edmonton you know 'Schremp's gonna be here, he's gonna make the team' and I read that, and then... I didn't make the team. So it was like a major dissapointment. So now, I just don't read them. I just go by how I feel."
About now... he should feel pretty damn good.
