Injuries.....Injuries....Injuries.....
No problem for Lou Lamoriello. The restocked farm system and a Devils team that is playing well together is giving the new Hall of Fame Devils' GM leverage to go after prized talented players like Dion Phaneuf. Armed with a decent amount of salary cap space, expect rumors from now till the trade deadline date that Lamoriello will make a bold move.
The emergence of Andy Greene gives the Devils flexibility and makes anyone on the blue line expendable. The Devils still need a "stopper" and a game changer to patrol the defense and it does not surprise me of the latest rumors that Lamoriello would go after this type of player. Do they need a Scott Stevens' type? Not necessarily. But they still need a defenseman to eat up big minutes and bring a physical presence to already position perfected defense.
This team has a good balance of veteran leadership and young talent. Jacques Lemaire knows how to push the right buttons and has a core nucleus that pays attention to detail. It's only one third of season finished and the Devils find themselves on pace to possibly win the President's Trophy.
The Devils are reloaded and look to strengthen this team as they build towards the playoffs.
