Devils’ Injuries Adding up; More Shanny Reaction
Paul Martin
Johnny Oduya
Jay Pandolfo
Rob Niedermayer
And now….Dainius Zubrus
The good news is that Patrik Elias is back in the lineup now and New Jersey still has one of the best defenses in the league. With Martin Brodeur in net, the Devils still have a chance to win every game.
My only concern thus far is that the Devils have been giving up the first goal more often lately. I don’t like seeing the Devils playing catch up. However, it is refreshing to see that they do have the ability to come back from behind, which was a rarity during Jacques Lemaire’s first tour of duty with New Jersey.
It was nice to see Matthew Corrente in his Devils debut. To see him play as forward instead of on the blueline was interesting. Who knows? Maybe this will be a new trend where you can dress your 7th defenseman as a forward. I like the idea because in case anything happens to your big six on the blueline, whether it is a fighting major or injury, you can shift a natural defenseman over during the game.
The Devils dropped down from #2 to #5 in the powering rankings this week.
Let’s hope they can get back on track and demolish Ottawa on Wednesday.
