Greetings from sun-soaked Nags Head, North Carolina, where the vodka is cold and the beach is red hot.

Its been a Chamber Of Commerce week: 95 degrees and sunny.

Enough of the vacation. I have a serious NHL Jones.

I'm anxiously awaiting a final word on the Danny Briere arbitration hearing from Thursday.

Bear in mind, last week's Beckham Havlat ruling will factor in Briere's arb award. Their 05/06 numbers are comparable. Will Golisano and Quinn allow Regier the budget to make such a play?

I've heard from a source that its a one year tender for $5 million. I'm awaiting final word. One year. That's it.

The Sabres will need to lock Briere up long term, as he is the moral compass of the Sabres team. Briere and Drury are the heart and soul of the Sabres team. The team has lost a gob of veteran leadership with the departures of Jay McKee and Mike Grier. Keeping Briere happy will insure continuity moving forward.

I'm back on a full time basis Monday.

Oh, and, the rumours of me becoming the new GM of the Long Oilanders were greatly exaggerated. I have enough dysfunction in my life, and I don't need anymore.
