Richards: Not A Dirty Player

Mike Richards told me tonight, he doesn't have a history of head shots and hopes he won't be suspended for the hit on David Booth.

But legal as the check may have been, as I see it, the Flyers have a bad history with Colin Campbell and I expect Richards will still be suspended.

Here's Richards, Paul Holmgren, and Florida GM Randy Sexton on the hit, as per my story running on CSNPhilly.com:

I've seen the replay several time snow and the impact of Mike Richards' shoulder hit to the jaw of David Booth causes his left foot to come up off the ice and his right leg to tangle w/Booth.

To me, it was a legal hit but again, as long as they allow shoulder hits to the jaw, you will never eliminate these kind of hits in hockey. Richards got a 5-min. major and game misconduct which means we can anticipate a suspension next.

I am Twittering live on this for CSNPhilly.com ...

Briere after scoring his 4th goal:

“Playing with Jeff and James, they are two big bodies. They are two guys that take a lot of pucks to the net and shoot a lot. I told them to keep doing what they are doing and I’m going to try and find the loose pucks around. James and Jeff both took a few pucks to the crease. This time around he threw it back door and that was a great play on his part. I just had to re-direct it in.”

They had some cool stuff going on today at the Spectrum as fans bid farewell.

Apparently, quite a few of them left messages in the Flyers' old dressing room, saying goodbye to the place.

One memory I have in the first season was - I believe the Oakland Seals _ came to town and the Zamboni crashed into the end boards and they had to do some emergency repairs before the game. Don't know why I remember that bit I do.

In the first, three minutes of tonight's Flyers game there has been a half-dozen scoring chances already.
