Devils' forward, Brendan Shanahan, has left the team according to the Fire and Ice blog.

My take:

Is Lamoriello about to make some more moves? Two days before the home opener, that seems kind of sudden. Is this to save cap space for a potential deal? Only time will tell. Look for a possible one year rental. We know Mats Sundin just retired and maybe the dominos are falling for a 2nd line center is my best guess.

Lemaire seem to be confident with youth. If Shanahan was pushed to the fourth line, they must have the pieces they want in these young talented players to fill the top three lines. Now they need a difference maker and a gamer.
