I'm not going to run this through spell checker because I'm doing it quickly. But I must say, just when I don't think Garth Snow can surprise me, then he actually does!
He took the fan favorite, the number one ranked, the guy with the entourage. He took John Tavares and the 8 - 11,000 (depending on who you believe) fans in the Coliseum go wild.
This is what they wanted and I didn't believe they would do. This only means that John Tavares is indeed the real deal. The fans are happy, the internet will blow up and the coliseum (sadly) will not be torched tonight.
I had warned Seth Sylvan, PR Director for the Islanders, that perhaps he should make sure Garth had a bullet proof vest after the choice. He will not need it. Garth will be met with smiles, handshakes and an occassional genuflecting. This is all the fans wanted: The LOGICIAL choice.
Thank you New York Islanders for doing taking the path MOST travelled instead of the path least likely.
I'm certain you will be duly rewarded.
And now... to drink and tweet! This is a wonderful night for the NHL and for the NY Islanders.
