The Devils have re-signed forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond. The announcement was made Monday by Devils’ President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.

Letourneau-Leblond made his NHL debut last season, recording an assist and 22 penalty minutes in eight appearances with New Jersey. He was recalled three times from the Devils’ AHL affiliate in Lowell, where he collected five goals, five assists and a team-high 216 penalty minutes in 60 games.

Selected with the Devils’ fourth choice, 216th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Letourneau-Leblond has nine goals, nine assists and 444 penalty minutes in 123 AHL contests. The native of Levis, Quebec, has four goals, 10 assists and 229 penalty minutes in 58 appearances with New Jersey’s ECHL affiliate in Trenton.

He will turn 24 on June 4.

I like this signing. All signs point to veteran Mike Rupp, Game 7 hero during the 2003 Stanley Cup finals, will be testing the free agency market and Lou Lamoriello going to the farm system for some grit and toughness is a solid move. Letourneau-Leblond brings size and would compete for the fourth line.
