The Rock will be united

Game 7. Feast or famine.

Tonight, the New Jersey Devils will take on the Carolina Hurricanes at the Prudential Center for Game 7 as the series is tied 3-3. During these playoffs, the crowd noise has given the home team a slight edge and this series has been close. Another usual sellout playoff crowd is expected for tonight.

About a year and half ago, I said after opening night that having a new arena will be like a new shoe and needs time to break in. The pumped up Devils Legion will be factor in the outcome as the Rock has become a loud hostile place for opposing teams in the past two months. We have witnessed the return of Martin Brodeur and his quest for 552 where the crowd noise resembled the 2003 Stanley Cup finals, which was the last time the Devils played a Game 7. This is why home ice advantage is important.

There will be scoreboard watching as well. Every Devils fan will be cheering on the Washington Capitals to beat the New York Rangers in their Game 7. If any Rangers fan wants to see an exciting hockey game and electrifying home crowd, just change the channel to MSG Plus. Unless of course, there maybe more excitement behind the Rangers’ bench at tonight’s game. I can’t wait to read the next letter to the NHL.

Meet Woo and the Advocate

It is a Game 7 and an elimination game. I debated if I should wear the Marty goalie pads because it will be 90 degrees and I have a sprained right ankle. But given my 4-0-0 record this year wearing the pads and my overall 31-0-5 record (when the Devils play the “Hey” goal song dating back to 2000), I will wear them tonight.

Also, my colleague, Roger Mussa, will be sitting with me in Section 208/209 tonight. He and I have attended nine games together, both home and away, and we are 9-0-0 with the most notable game was in Philadelphia which Mussa was caught taunting the Philly crowd in the upper section.

Come meet us at the Arena Lounge/Bar at 218 Mulberry St. before the game around 6:00PM. I will be a guest MC/DJ and if you mention HockeyBuzz, maybe Roger will buy you a drink. Must be 21 or older. We’ll also be at the pregame show with Matt Loughlin and Sherry Ross. During both intermissions, we’ll be hanging outside of Section 208/209 to meet and greet as well.
