Your Insomniac Update.....

From a Source in Tampa on Martin St. Louis, "Almost 100% that Marty will not be traded."

The reality is St. Louis is such a major part of the locker room and psyche of this team, and also the way his contract works he is a STEAL over the next few years from a financial perspective. I have gotten the sense that there are only two truly untouchables in Tampa. Marty and Stamkos.

Vinny is still in play. Don't believe anything you hear. Vinny is 100% available.

The Predators are becoming a very interesting team right now on many levels. They are in on Gaborik, but they are also in on Antropov and possibly a few others. The fact remains that the with so many buyers who will need to dump some cap money players really only Nashville and LA can take on cap. And I could see that happening very easily...

For example, should the Flyers win the Jay Bo sweeps you could see them making room by shipping a player or two to Nashville...a good player with value. Like a Lupul...

Poile has the Preds perfectly and uniquely positioned here.

Make no mistake about it...The Penguins are stilllooking for Sid's winger right now and word is that they have had discussions with San Jose regarding Cheechoo, Minnesota regarding Gaborik and Atlanta regarding bringing back Colby Armstrong.

I am also hearing the Flyers may have some strong interest in Dan Ellis. Ellis has had a strange year, not getting any offensive support, but a change could do the kid good and it is easy to forget the gumption and clutch play that Ellis gave the Preds in that thrilling 7 game series against Detroit.

Speaking of Detroit....ARE THEY REALLY SET ON OSGOOD? Some sources say that they have no choice, but others tell you that they are looking hard for someone to emerge and could have to move a player on their roster to solidify.

I am chasing down a really intriguing Jason Spezza rumor that I will be allowed to go with at noon tomorrow...Yes, I know that sounds odd, but we are now entering the time when "Off the Record" sometimes is connected to an exact time. I sometimes don't even mention this, but this rumor is a dandy.

Going to bed. many more chats and a big podcast tomorrow evening to get you all ready for TD DAY.
