It could have been a season ending type of injury so the Blackhawks are very fortunate Patrick Sharp will miss only two or three weeks. It still appears likely Sharp will be out of the lineup for at least 8-10 games.

Could this be Jack Skille time?

Khabibulin seemed to be on a quick road to recovery but now it appears he has hit a bump in the road.

It has been reported that Khabibulin will not travel with the team to Florida. That could mean he will be available to play in Dallas on Saturday or on Sunday at the UC against the Wild. Khabby is trying to recover from a “lower body” injury. Groin injuries can be difficult to come back from quickly …..If in fact that is his exact ailment.

I am speculating, but it appears that Antti Niemi will get at least one start this week.

Hawk Management knows points are too valuable to squander but it would be nice to see Niemi in action at the NHL level. His Rockford starts have been good but he is only under contract though this season.

The soon to be RFA may attract attention once again from the Red Wings and a few other Clubs. Supposedly, Detroit was in hot pursuit of Niemi before he decided on joining the Hawks this summer.

There is no time for the Hawks to relax or be content. Starting Tuesday they will play six games in the next ten days.
