The New Word: Isles Beat Luongo and Canucks in Shootout, Post-Game Repoort |
|

The Game Day piece in the The Province yesterday makes the win oh so more satisfying.
"The word: The Isles are a bad team, period. If the Canucks use their speed and Roberto Luongo is even average, there's no way the Islanders should win."
Luongo was more than average, which is certainly more than the sub-mediocre news slop that the Province is perpetuating as hockey journalism. It made the rounds between press and bloggers with a shake of the head. Maybe it belonged on some fan's blog, but on a newspaper? For shame.
So let's get the real skinny from more than a bunch of homers who work for a local newspaper. Today's work from them might be more humbled, but it is essentially the same Canuck-colored glasses that gives the Isles zero credit.
Luckily,
Chris Botta of
IslanderPointBlank.com has a great piece interviewing Canucks players, coaches and some anonymous scouts after the game. It is a real eyeopener of what the Islanders and Coach Gordon are doing.
