Sources tell me Chicago Blackhawks Executive Scotty Bowman recently phoned free agent winger Brendan Shanahan in an effort to sell the original six franchise to the future Hall of Famer.

This is interesting on more than one front when you factor in Shanahan and Bowman didn't necessarily see eye to eye during their time together in Detroit.

With that being said they won a lot of hockey together and share plenty of good memories from their days in Hockey Town.

Bowman tried to sell everything from the city of Chicago to all the young talent within the organization.

As of today Philadelphia remains the only team Shanahan has met face to face with.

In reality Shanahan has heard from a number of teams but has yet to receive an offer or any committed interest.

He appears to be in no rush as he continues to weigh his options.

Several teams remain interested including but not limited to Chicago, New Jersey, Philadelphia and St. Louis who many feel have more young promising talent than their division rivals in Chicago.

Speaking of the Blues, John Davidson and company have made follow up calls this week and continue to explore the idea of signing the former Blues superstar.

The Blues will need to hear from Shanahan that he's interested in returning to St. Louis to really get the ball rolling

Sources say Shanahan is not interested in a bonus structured contract which has become commonplace for older NHL players.

Stay tuned....

Blues Clues!

Goaltender Ben Bishop will backup Chris Mason tonight in Anaheim.

Goaltender Chris Holt will report back to Peoria.

Manny Legace will likely be ready to return by the weekend at least in a backup role.

Injured rookie T.J. Oshie is wearing a compression sock and a walking boot on his injured ankle. Oshie, who is not with the Blues on the west coast, has left St. Louis to visit his former college teammates at the University of North Dakota.

Former Blues 2nd rounder Aaron Palushaj is currently the third leading scorer in the NCAA with 12 points. The University of Michigan Sophomore was named the CCHA player of the month for October. Five of his six goals have been even strength tallies.

Both Davidson and GM Larry Pleau took in some AHL action in Peoria last weekend. The reports on D-man Jonas Junland were just ok. Apparently he played real well in his first couple of games back but wasn't as good over the weekend.
