Pens, Sabres and Caps Inquire About Gaborik, Parrish to NYI, Edm, Van (e4)

I talked to a source VERY close to the Gaborik situation and the fact is simple:

"Much debate about this next deal. Is it really almost 9M.... And even more outside offers."

The Penguins appear to be leading the push to a degree..at least they are the ones who are putting "a rather surprising" package together. The Sabres have been in this game for some time now....the Caps are new to it...but "aggressive."

Another team to look for with Gaborik is Vancouver...NOT THIS SEASON, but down the line. I don't see the Wild moving their star to the Canucks, but should Gabs become a UFA, the Canucks will be "hot, hot, hot" on him....As would the Oilers.

The Lightning have interest in a Preds D-man, and the Preds have interest in a few forwards on the Lightning as well...We have been talking about that for some time and this morning it is all over the papers in Nashville. I think this is the week when this deal will go down.

Mark Parrish has value and was placed on waivers this past week...It is completely possible that the once popular Islander could return to Uniondale, but I am also hearing that the Canucks are "highly likely" to look this way if Sundin looks elsewhere. The Canucks are going to be interesting on many levels if Sundin doesn't land there.

And speaking of Mats. Not much new to report so far today except for a friend who was talking to a team exec last evening who confirmed more and more that the Rangers "really want him."

I am telling you...the Rangers have a way. The rumours of them already putting a plan in place to move some big money can NOT be ignored.

More to come today.
