What would you do?

I figure it's time for me to ask the questions... :)

Remember when you were younger and a million dollars seemed like a ton of money? Don’t get me wrong it’s still a lot of money…it just doesn’t go as far as it used to. Anyways, when I was younger, my friends and I would talk about what we’d do if we had a million dollars. They always said they’d buy a flashy car or a really big house or a boat or travel the world, etc. Not me…I wanted to buy a hockey team. I have since grown up and discovered that money does not, in fact, grow on trees and that it takes a lot more than a million dollars to buy a team, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about what I’d do if I actually owned one.
Here's a sample of my short list:

A) I’d only have fun people on my team…I’m not interested in anyone with a negative attitude or who doesn’t live to lace up the skates and get on the ice. I’d want to see passion from my players day in and day out and any egos can be checked at the door.

B) I’d offer ice cream cones for free…I’ve always thought hockey games should come with free ice cream :)

C) I’d have Miss America sing the national anthem…Assuming my team would be in the US and that Miss America would be a singer. In related news, I found out today that the newly crowned Miss Virginia, Tara Wheeler, was the starting goaltender for Penn State’s women’s hockey team and was even invited to tryout for the Olympic team – how great is that?!

D) I’d host hockey classes for new fans…Not to learn how to play, but to learn how to watch and know what you’re looking at/for. It amazes me how many people attend games and have no idea what the rules are or no idea what’s going on.

Clearly, this is not necessarily a blueprint for a winning team or to even make money, but this is a fantasy and fantasies don’t always make sense, but they sure are fun! :)

So what would you do?

Jules
