Talking to a source I can 100% tell you that the Jeff Carter Deal is NOT Done. Now that being said, I am 90% sure it will get done when the Flyers return from Ottawa.
The rumours of the Three-Year 15 Million Dollar Deal are everywhere.
I was told by a trusted source that 3 years is "the minimum" but the Flyers want a couple more years. It is curious if they should in my opinion...
A three year deal would give the Flyers one more RFA deal with Carter, and although I am a huge Carter fan, there are two Jeff Carters. The Mats Sundin version that drives to the net, has a great touch in close and is virtually unstoppable, and the Joe Thornton version that plays a perimeter game, is solid, but can disappear for stretches.
The Sundin version is a steal at 5 Million, the Thornton version is a 3 Million Dollar guy.

Sundin... Source tells me that the negotiations between Sundin and Montreal are going very well. Could be announced tonight or in the morning. Don't expect a big return. Sundin only has a very few teams he is willing to go to. Montreal is the number 1 and number 2 choice. I will stay on this throughout the night..Of course..
Word is Calgary is still VERY much looking to make a MAJOR deal. As are the Oilers.
Although we keep hearing Spezza will NOT be moved that hasn't stopped the rumours at all.
I have heard that Calgary, Edmonton, LA, and St. Louis are leading the charge for Spezza. One source said, "If Regher is included it could get done really quickly."
Another rumour that the Sharks are trying to trade for negotiation rights for both Orpik and Malone. (and yes I know Malone said not to bother that he wants to try the market...remember if you can get the rights thrown in...why not?)
Brian Campbell to Ottawa is growing and growing...
The Sabres and Flyers are both rumoured to be interested in Nashville D-man Koistinen.
The Flyers moving Umberger opens up the possibility of going after Hainsey or Finger I am told.
The Sabres would like to acquire the rights for Dupuis who I am told will NOT be a Penguin.
The Kings are talking to the Hurricanes regarding Cole and the Oilers regarding Pitkanen. The Oilers are interested in O'Sullivan.
