With the Stanley Cup Final in the books, there will be far less facial hair in the Pittsburgh and Detroit dressing rooms!! Oh and many NHL fans will start to get their fix of news for their respective teams as you will see a few coaching hirings announced in the next few weeks.

Leading the coaching announcements will be the Ottawa Senators. I have been told by reliable sources that Bob Hartley will be named the next head coach of the Ottawa Senators before the NHL Draft is held in Ottawa on June 20th/21st.

I will be sure to report any info I get as the Senators prepare to announce their next head coach as well as continue to get you info on who might be a part of Hartley's coaching staff.
Don't be surprised if someone that was interviewed by GM Bryan Murray for the head coaching job ends up on Hartley's staff. Could Pete DeBoer finally get a chance at being a part of an NHL coaching staff? Time will tell.

Now turning to possible UFA's that could sign in the Nation's Capital, the name of Mats Sundin continues to come up in NHL circles. There is a very strong chance that Sundin could be wearing number 13 in Ottawa come September when training camp opens. If that happens, it might mean that pending UFA Cory Stillman could be the odd man out in Ottawa due to salary cap restraints. A quick question to Sens fans, would you be angry if Murray lost both Stillman and Mike Commodore to free agency after trading Patrick Eaves and Joe Corvo for these two players? Or would you be happier with Murray if he was able to sign Sundin, while losing both players acquired in the Eaves/Corvo trade?

Lastly, don't rule out Chris Kelly re-signing in Ottawa just yet. I had it confirmed to me that Kelly just bought a new house in Ottawa and usually when a player buys a house in a city pending UFA status, it usually means he has his mind made up on his contract status. Again, time will tell if Kelly re-signs in Ottawa.

Lets hear it Sens fans! Would you be happy with Hartley behind the Sens bench for the upcoming season? Is he the type of personality that this team needs to get back to the Stanley Cup Final?
