It's Over

The Pens did everything better than the Flyers today. They deserved to move on, no question.

No need for a eulogy right now. There will be time enough for reflection and analysis. Our own Bill Meltzer always covers that with great aplomb.

Game Bullets:

2nd goal was the killer. Marty needs to reassess his puck handling decisions. If you were watching the game with a group, how many times did you and your mates yell, "stay in the net!"

Much of the 2 day lead up to this game by the media told of a "confident" group of Flyers players. Again, after that 2nd goal any confidence was dissolved, and the Pens stepped on the gas.

Fleury was solid indeed. Many of Philly's scoring chances were diffused by MAF's positioning. Philly did not get the traffic they wanted in front.

We saw the last game #40 will play for the Flyers I believe. It was fun there for a while after the trade deadline, as he helped to snap Danny out of a funk. Vinnie provided Forberg-esque control and playmaking without the "footgate" issues.

Homer will have some moves for sure and it will be fun around here to talk of the RFA signings and UFA's etc.

Again, what a fantastic Spring this team gave us. If you are a fan of these Flyers you must be proud of what they have accomplished since last season. As I wrote last week, 26 teams were sitting at home watching this group play...
